I hadn't drawn for quite a while, for one reason or other, so I wanted to do a picture that was not too full on, and one that I could finish relatively quickly. I had wanted to do some drawings of statues for quite a while, so I found a picture I had taken of a statue in a local cemetery. I have always held a fascination with stonecarving, and have a lot of respect for the sculptors of these stones.
I wanted to do this drawing in one session, but it took about three, and was a good jumpstart to get drawing again.
